He is a person, but unseen to our eyes.
A member of the Trinity, yet he makes our body his
temple. He is a
mystery to many believers, yet the writers of Scripture talk
about him often. Are
you aware of his work in your life?
Do you experience his power?
Today there is often confusion about what this means.
Concerned by abuses we see in some streams of Evangelical
Christianity, we often view the Spirit with suspicion, or are
unaware of how his work should practically look in everyday
life. As a result,
we are missing a working theology of the Spirit.
As D.L. Moody said, "without this power, our work will be
a drudgery. With it,
it becomes a joyful task, a refreshing service."
He was concerned that many were missing this refreshment
and wrote; "The doctrine of the Holy Spirit has been too much
overlooked, as though it were not practical, and the result is
lack of power in testimony and work."
In this seminar we will look at the four main ways the
Holy Spirit should be affecting the life of a believer on a
daily basis, from Christ’s words to his disciples in the Upper
Room Discourse. We
will explore how the Holy Spirit engages with my mind and with
my will, and unmask the primary opponent of the Spirits work.
Finally, we will look at what allows a person to be
filled with the Spirit, and how to experience this filling on a
daily basis.
 Dave
Patty is the founder and president of Josiah
Venture, a mission organization focused on training next
generation leaders throughout Eastern
Europe.
Dave lives with his family in the Czech
Republic, and is well known in the
region for his practical Bible teaching.
A second generation missionary, Dave was born in the Philippines and also served ten years in Germany where he
founded a ministry to military teenagers.
Dave and his wife Connie family were commissioned by
Grace as missionaries in 1993 and have three children, Tyler,
Caleb and Claire.
