The Heinz Family
Letters from the
Heinzs
Kevin and Molly were
saved at Grace Church of DuPage in 1988. God led them to Berachah Bible
Church near Atlanta in 1994 where God led they began to be called to ministry
and missions. In August of 1996 the Heinz family left
Georgia to begin a year of missionary training at the Master's
Mission. The elders of Grace Church of DuPage partnered with Berachah Bible
Church to affirm the Heinz family and began monthly support
and prayer to meet their needs.
Upon arriving in Kazakhstan in May of
1998, they spent most of their time studying Russian and adapting
to the pioneer living conditions. Coal heat, bathing in a
outbuilding called a "banya", and hauling bathing and
drinking water from a community pump were a normal part of life
for the Heinzs.
Later
the Heinzes moved south to the former capitol of
Almaty. There Kevin pastored
the Alpha Omega Fellowship, a Kazach church with about 40
believers. They are currently serving in Living Word Bible
Church in Almaty suburb of Kalkaman. The
church is currently composed of about 16 adults.
Kazakhstan is a
country of 2 nationalities and 2 languages: Russian and Kazakh.
The Heinzes have learned both languages. Russian is still the
language of choice (if not the official language) for most of the
frequent government transactions. Kazakh is the language of
southern Kazakhstan and of those that the Heinzs want to reach
with the gospel.
