Dear Grace Family -

We have arrived in Gatab with no mechanical trouble or flat tires!  We
are truly thankful as we passed through quite a bit of mud.  Jeff
recently purchased new tires which are specially designed to get trough
the mud - we did not fishtail or slide once!  The tires are worth every
extra penny. (the additional cost was only $100)

We also passed through with no security trouble.  Please be praying for
the region as there are many underlying issues to be resolved before
peace can be a reality.  The people of Mt Kulal are generally known for
their peaceful ways and typically do not initiate violence.  We believe
the gospel has had significant influence here as many who once would
have pursued revenge, look to the Lord to be the avenger.  There is much work still to be done, especially in areas north of us.  We pray for the gospel to be brought to these regions.

Even since being back here on the mountain, we have heard of a desire in two different communities near-by specifically asking for more church involvement.  N'baranat, a community close by (a 45 minute walk from Gatab) has asked for regular preaching to come to their community.  Sixty people are gathering there each Sunday, including many older men - an age group typically resistant to the Gospel.  The other place is called Pili-Pili and is located ont he North-East side of the mountain, a region that has often seen much instability.  They as well have asked for regular preaching to come there.  Our pastor, Job Learamo and Dr. Focking traveled there today by truck to conduct a spiritual and medical mission.  Pray for the Lord's healing hand both physically and spiritually.  We also have another pastor who is living in Gatab who does itinerant preaching.  He is now traveling around to three or four different communities where there are fledgling churches.

Upon returning, we are impressed by the work there is to be done for the Kingdom.  We appreciate your support, concern, and prayers as we embark on a new term here in Northern Kenya. The work is definitely exciting and yet daunting at times. Speaking of daunting, the last two days have been filled with the physical work of unpacking and organizing the house.  I had a great start since Jeff had been here for several weeks before I arrived.  It is great having 7 grown up people to tackle this task, and much is done already.

In His Hands - Peg
