The Hoglund Family
Letter from the Hoglunds
Jon and Andrea Hoglund have a
passion for theological education. Both studied Biblical
Languages and Exegesis at The Master’s College and at Wheaton
Grad School. While at Wheaton, Jon and Andrea both became
involved at Grace Church and made it their home church. After
Andrea graduated in May 2005, they moved to Kiev, Ukraine. They
wish to contribute to the theological education needs in
Ukraine. After completing study of the Russian language, Jon
joined the faculty of Kremenchuk Bible College where he teaches
the Hebrew
language, Old Testament, and exegetical method. The Hoglunds
work in Ukraine with a team of missionaries from SEND
International (www.send.org).
Ukraine is a country ready to
take the next step in the development of its church. Because a
functioning evangelical church exists in Ukraine, the focus in
theological education is mainly to supply pastors for churches
that already exist, but lack a trained man to preach
consistently and help lead the congregation. In the last
fourteen years of independence, however, the church in Ukraine
has seen phenomenal growth. Many are beginning to think beyond
their own borders. The next step is to train Ukrainians as
cross-cultural missionaries to other CIS (former Soviet
Republic) countries and to
develop graduate-level theological education in Ukraine. The Hoglunds desire to be a part of these next steps.
Jon and Andrea are
also active in ministry at the Spring Life Church which is
located in Kremenchuk. |
