“God is Faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”  1 Corinthians 1:9

Does your memory ever become hazy?  Do you look back at your past experiences and exert mental effort to recreate details or images?  I know that is true for me!  The images and memories that are most clear and most vivid are the ones that I recount often.  I tell my boys the story of their birth every year on their birthday.  Every year, Doug and I recount the story of our engagement and wedding.  We remember a significant loss, and the joys that have come from them on a certain day each year.  Sometimes we remember based on the calendar, sometimes it is when we see a certain item in our home, or when we drive to a particular location. We remember, because we have repeated the stories often, and because we have created a significant place for that memory in our mind.

This is also how we remember the ways in which God has blessed us and our family. . . we talk about them, we remember them, and we tell them to our children.  As you go about your days, remember to share your “Stones of Remembrance” . . . the ways God has worked mightily in your lives and in the life of your family.  Your children will hear them, and because they are repeated, they will remember them.  What a wonderful picture to paint for them. . . the picture of God’s faithfulness, and where they are placed in that beautiful canvas.

May you find joy in your parenting this week!
